The Management
Albrecht Binder
Combining pharmacy, naturopathy, and responsibility.

Albrecht Binder is one of the two founders of sanitas. As a pharmacist, he has been shaping the vision since 1995 of combining pharmaceutical expertise with naturopathy and a holistic understanding of health—and using this approach to develop products that prioritize quality and responsibility.
After studying pharmacy at the universities of Kiel and Marburg, he took over as manager of the St. Rochus Pharmacy in Steinheim in 1987. As a specialist in general pharmacy, he holds additional qualifications in nutritional counseling, prevention and health counseling, and geriatric pharmacy.
In 1995, he founded sanitas together with Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Martin Hörning. At that time, the first products were still manufactured at the St. Rochus Pharmacy. As a co-founder and managing director, Albrecht Binder has guided and shaped the development of our company to this day.
His interests have always extended beyond the realm of traditional pharmacy. For many years, he served as a consultant for various state pharmacy boards and was particularly active in the areas of nutritional counseling, continuing education, and quality management. At the European University Viadrina, he explored the connection between conventional medicine and complementary approaches in the master’s program “Cultural Studies and Complementary Medicine,” from which he graduated with a Master of Arts degree.
For him, entrepreneurial action means both embracing new developments and taking on responsibility. In 2019, he founded MYCB1 GmbH, a pharmaceutical company engaged in the manufacture and international trade of cannabis-based medicines, and he serves as its managing director.
For Albrecht Binder, however, responsibility does not end with his own company. He is particularly committed to a sustainable and public-interest-oriented approach to business. In 2017, he founded the Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie NRW Foundation, which he leads as chairman of the board.
“For me, pharmacy means more than just studying individual active ingredients. I’m interested in how we can combine medical and pharmaceutical knowledge with natural approaches while acting responsibly toward people, resources, and our business practices. This mindset has guided me ever since sanitas was founded.”

Prof. Dr. med., Dr. phil. Martin Hörning
A holistic approach to health—scientific, humane, and with a zest for life.

Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Martin Hörning is one of the two founders of sanitas. As a physician and scientist, he has shaped—since 1995—the philosophy that continues to guide our company today: taking a holistic approach to health and combining insights from medicine and science with knowledge of natural active ingredients.
After studying medicine in Hanover and receiving his medical license, he earned his Dr. med. degree in Mainz and his Dr. phil. degree in Berlin. For over 30 years, he served as a professor of social medicine, including psychopathology, in Paderborn. He has been with sanitas for nearly as long, serving as a co-founder and managing director.
His understanding of health extends far beyond individual products or active ingredients. With MSBB—mind, soul & body in balance—he developed a mindfulness-based, multimodal approach to stress management, which he teaches in in-person sessions and online modules. He also runs a small private practice in Beverungen-Herstelle.
It is particularly important to him to make medical knowledge available not only to those who already have access to the healthcare system. Together with his colleagues, he therefore offers a market clinic in Hanover almost every week—for people seeking quick, straightforward, and free medical advice. For many years, he has also volunteered in the field of doping prevention in fitness and recreational sports.
What he does for a living is, of course, also an integral part of his personal life: exercise and sports, healthy eating, and being mindful of his own mental and social well-being. Strength training and martial arts are just as much a part of it as mountaineering and hiking.
“For me, health arises from the interplay of many factors. The body, the mind, social relationships, exercise, and nutrition all go hand in hand. This holistic perspective guides me as a physician, scientist, and entrepreneur—and it has been part of the sanitas vision since the company’s founding.”

The Team
Marion Hecker
Close to our customers—and committed to a mindful lifestyle.

Marion Hecker has been part of our team since 2024. As a trained industrial and sales clerk, she handles a wide range of tasks related to our customers and their orders—from order processing and invoice handling to returns, sample requests, and our trade show services.
It is precisely the personal contact with our customers and the variety of their tasks that make their work at sanitas particularly diverse for them.
What Marion particularly appreciates about Sanitas is the personal and family-like atmosphere: the good camaraderie, short lines of communication, and strong team spirit within a small, dedicated team.
Health is not just a part of her professional life. Exercise, a balanced diet, and a mindful lifestyle also play an important role in her personal life. This makes her appreciate all the more the opportunity to work for a company whose products and values align with her own interests.
“I think it’s great that at sanitas, health isn’t just a part of our products. Much of what we do here is something I’m personally interested in as well. Add to that the family-like atmosphere and the team spirit—this combination is what makes my work so special to me.”
Rebeca Reimer
Organizational skills, a broad perspective, and a passion for exploring new topics.

Rebeca Reimer has been part of our team since 2024. As a certified industrial clerk and business administrator, she brings her experience to many different areas at sanitas—from order processing and customer service to procurement, controlling, and reporting, as well as managing our IT operations.
It is precisely this versatility that makes her work particularly exciting. She maintains a broad perspective, supports the team with a wide variety of tasks, and, through her dedication, helps ensure that many things run smoothly behind the scenes.
What Rebeca particularly appreciates about Sanitas is the family-like atmosphere: short lines of communication, plenty of flexibility, and a strong sense of camaraderie within a small team.
At the same time, she is excited by the opportunity to continually learn new things about plants, their components, and their importance for health and well-being as part of her daily work.
“I like that my responsibilities are so varied and that I get to learn something new every day. What motivates me most is being able to make a tangible contribution to our company’s growth through my work.”
Gaetano Mancuso
So that everything ends up in the right place.

Gaetano Mancuso has been part of our team since 2023. As a trained restaurant professional, he brings a wealth of experience in working with people—as well as qualities that are crucial to his current role: organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to keep track of everything even when many things are happening at once.
At sanitas, Gaetano is right at home in logistics and production. From receiving goods, conducting incoming inspections, and taking inventory, through filling and documentation, all the way to labeling our products, he oversees many of the hands-on steps required before a product can make its way to our customers.
In warehouse and shipping management, too, he ensures that processes run smoothly and that everything is where it’s needed. And when there’s work to be done beyond the usual day-to-day operations, Gaetano is someone you can count on.
It is precisely this combination of responsibility, versatility, and hands-on work that defines his role at sanitas. With his reliable, straightforward, and energetic personality, Gaetano has long been an important part of our small team.
“I like it when things are well organized and everything works out the way it’s supposed to in the end. My responsibilities at sanitas are very varied—and many of the tasks require attention to detail and reliability. That’s exactly what I like about it.”
Olga Matt
Part of sanitas since 1997.

Olga Matt has been with sanitas since 1997—and has thus personally witnessed and helped shape a large part of our company’s history. Even today, it’s hard to imagine our team without her.
As a trained technician in the textile industry, Olga brings exactly what’s needed for her current role: experience, attention to detail, and an eye for the many small details that must all work together seamlessly. At sanitas, she handles a wide range of tasks in logistics and production—from warehousing and receiving to shipping and labeling, as well as filling and the careful management of our retained samples. And she can always be counted on for special assignments as well.
What still makes her enjoy coming to sanitas after all these years is surprisingly simple: she enjoys her work. Personal interaction and team spirit within our small team are especially important to her.
Even after reaching retirement age, Olga continues to contribute with great dedication. With her many years of experience, her reliability, and her warm personality, she is not only an invaluable asset in our day-to-day work but also a living part of sanitas’ history.
“I’ve been with Sanitas for so long because I simply enjoy my work. I especially appreciate the good rapport and team spirit—and as long as I enjoy it, I’m happy to stay.”
Claudia Thater
Plan, coordinate, and work together to further develop.
Claudia Thater has been part of our team as an executive assistant since 2023. In this role, she supports many of the organizational and planning tasks that, behind the scenes, ensure that the various departments at sanitas work together seamlessly.
Her main areas of responsibility include production planning—including the associated cost control—purchasing, and independently managing various projects. In this role, she works closely with management and takes on responsibilities that require both a broad overview and careful planning.
It is precisely this versatility that Claudia values most about her work. She particularly values the opportunity not only to support existing workflows, but also to actively help shape processes and projects, thereby contributing to sanitas’s continued development.
Another thing that makes her enjoy working at Sanitas is the personal connection with her colleagues. In our small team, she appreciates the collegial and friendly atmosphere, the open communication, and the natural way in which everyone supports one another.
“I enjoy the variety of my responsibilities and the opportunity to take the initiative and actively help shape processes. At the same time, I appreciate the close collaboration and the open, collegial atmosphere within our team. This combination is what makes my work at sanitas so special to me.”
