Because it’s about more …

Social responsibility

In a world characterized by constant change, it is crucial for companies and organizations to look beyond their own success and take responsibility for society.

Social responsibility means much more than simply maximizing profits. It is a commitment to strengthen the community in which we operate and to have a positive impact on the environment and people. At sanitas, we view this responsibility as a fundamental part of our corporate culture.

Charitable Projects

One of the key components of our social responsibility is supporting charitable projects. We believe it is our duty to do our part and support those who are less privileged. That is why we have decided to actively collaborate with various nonprofit organizations to bring about positive change in our community.

Protecting Nature

In addition to supporting nonprofit projects, protecting nature and promoting environmental protection are particularly important to us. We recognize the pressing global environmental challenges and are firmly committed to minimizing our ecological footprint. This means we are constantly looking for ways to make our business practices more sustainable. From reducing our energy consumption to using eco-friendly materials and promoting recycling within our organization—our goal is to minimize our impact on the environment.

Social responsibility

Overall, social responsibility is more than just a buzzword for us. It’s a core component of our corporate philosophy and our identity. At sanitas, we are convinced that our success is inextricably linked to the health and well-being of our community and our environment. Our approach of supporting charitable projects and promoting environmental protection reflects our vision of a better world. Together, we can shape a sustainable future and bring about positive change that extends far beyond our own interests.

People and nature are at the heart of our environment and are therefore an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Our primary goal is to improve living conditions for people and to preserve our environment. Human dignity, ecological sustainability, fairness, solidarity and social justice are essential elements that determine our actions.

These important reasons have also prompted us to support the basic idea of the Economy for the Common Good. The aim of the Economy for the Common Good is to establish an ethical economic model. The well-being of people and the environment becomes the primary goal of economic activity.

As entrepreneurs, we have therefore always seen our social responsibility not only in the creation of jobs, but also in supporting people in need – in a wide variety of ways. The areas of education, health and the fight against poverty in the poorer countries of the world play a special role here. However, we also support charitable institutions and various organizations in our region. We also maintain close personal relationships with many projects.

Children’s Home in Emerald Hill (Zimbabwe)

We support the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Order of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Zimbabwe, who are committed to providing long-term assistance to people in need—especially children—through a “help them help themselves” approach.
For example, at the “Children’s Home,” many children find a kind of “extended family” where they have a home. Since 1997, the sisters have been running a boarding school in Emerald Hill, where they teach deaf and mute boys and girls.

Member of the “NATUR UND MEDIZIN” Support Association

Through our membership in the “NATUR & MEDIZIN” Support Association of the Karl and Veronika Carstens Foundation, we support scientific research into naturopathy and homeopathy, the advancement of young medical professionals, and the provision of well-founded information to the public about the benefits and use of complementary medicine.

Supporting Member of ‘FOODWATCH’

foodwatch exposes the food industry’s anti-consumer practices and fights for our right as consumers to high-quality, safe, and honest food. foodwatch is a nonprofit organization and is independent of the government and the food industry. foodwatch is funded exclusively by membership dues and donations.

Sponsorship of a forest through Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.

In addition, we have taken on a forest sponsorship to help preserve the forest as a valuable ecosystem for us and our descendants. In this way, we are committed to protecting the last remaining pristine forests and to a form of forestry that preserves and values the forest’s biodiversity.

PLAN-Patenschaft

We are currently supporting little Jhinson as part of a PLAN sponsorship. He lives in the rural region of Cotopaxi, which is located in the north of the central Andes region of South American Ecuador. Cotopaxi is one of the poorest provinces in Ecuador. More than half of all children there live in poverty.

The impressive landmark of the region is the snow-capped volcano Cotopaxi, one of the highest volcanoes in Ecuador, along with the surrounding national park. Most families in the region earn their living from agriculture, fishing and livestock farming. Spanish and Quechua are the most widely spoken languages in the region.

Jhinson was born in October 2014. His father Segundo is a small farmer and his mother Maria is a housewife and also a small farmer. Jhinson lives in a small house with his two brothers, a sister and his parents.

The house consists of simple cement blocks with a roof made of corrugated sheets and a cement floor. The family draws its water from a water pipe in the yard and uses a pit latrine.

With this sponsorship, we support self-help projects that strengthen Jhinson, his family and his community. Our aim is to use this sponsorship to permanently strengthen Jhinson’s entire living environment and secure his livelihood in the long term.

In addition to this sponsorship, we also support PLAN’s girls’ fund. In many developing countries, girls are still disadvantaged, as school attendance or even vocational training are unfortunately often not a matter of course there.

Member of Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.

We are members of Naturschutzbund Deutschland because we want future generations to inherit a planet that is worth living on—one that boasts a wide variety of habitats and species, clean air, clean water, healthy soil, and the maximum possible amount of finite resources.
